(Applicable to all equipment, component, and material streams)
When equipment, components, and materials are received by an R2 Facility, they are in an unknown state until sorted, evaluated and further processed. Equipment, components, and materials must be controlled under the R2 Standard until it can be demonstrated that they do not meet the definition of an R2 Controlled Stream under the R2 Applicability table.
Table 1: R2 Applicability
This table identifies which material streams must be processed and controlled under the R2 Standard, and what the next R2 process for the material stream may be. When equipment has been sanitized, tested and verified functioning, it can move from the R2 Applicability categories, to the Functioning Product categories (Table 4).
(Applicable to Collectible/Specialty Electronics, and tested and confirmed Functioning Products)
This section is intentionally blank and reserved for alternative categorization specifications, such as grading specifications established and maintained by other organizations. Alternative categorization specifications may be adopted as needed in the future for specific types of equipment. Such specifications must be approved and added to this REC. Approval is subject to continued conformance with the R2 Standard and may be withdrawn at any time.
